Earth Keepers in Jersey City
September 10 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
Volunteers are needed to help revitalize, beautify, maintain, and improve areas in the cemetery through a variety of gardening, landscaping, and preservation projects. Volunteers will also assist with the tending of our goats and sheep during the summer months. The Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery was founded in 1829 and was the state’s first private cemetery. The sacred grounds are the eternal resting place of some early notables of Jersey City’s history as well as thousands of soldiers from the Revolutionary & Civil Wars, the War of 1812, the Spanish-American War, WWI and II. Come help preserve history!
