From local night markets to food festivals, these are the April festivals near Jersey City and Hoboken that are actually worth getting out for.
One of the most popular recurring events in the area, Jersey City Night Market features a mix of food vendors, artists, and local makers in an open-air setting. The event runs from 3PM to 9PM at the City Hall Ancillary Lot, with live music and plenty of space to walk through or stay for a while. It’s family-friendly and free to attend, with food and drinks available throughout.
Known for its mix of shopping and live entertainment, New Jersey Punk Rock Flea Market brings together hundreds of vendors selling vintage items, clothing, records, collectibles, and handmade goods. The event also includes food trucks, pop-up art, tattooing, arcade-style setups, and live music, making it more of a full-day experience than a typical market.
Set throughout Historic Smithville, this event transforms the village into a Renaissance-themed setting with live performances, costumed actors, and staged shows running throughout the day. Expect sword fighting, music, comedy acts, and interactive performances, along with vendors selling themed goods and crafts across the grounds. The event runs 11AM to 5PM both days.
Hoboken Mac & Cheese Festival runs as a 1PM–5PM food crawl, where participating restaurants serve their own versions of mac and cheese. The event follows a mapped route across Hoboken, with multiple stops included in the ticket. General admission includes samples at each location, with VIP options offering early access, drinks, and shorter lines.
Held at the Grand Arcade of Convention Hall, Asbury Park Spring Disco runs 6PM to 11PM and combines a night market with a music-driven event. Expect DJs, local food vendors, bars, and a curated lineup of artists and vintage sellers. The event is 21+ and includes dance floors, photo setups, and a mix of shopping and nightlife.
Hoboken Literary Weekend features a lineup of author talks, book signings, and panel discussions hosted across multiple venues, including Little City Books and nearby spaces. Events are spread throughout the weekend, offering flexibility depending on which sessions stand out.
Bloomfest marks the peak of cherry blossom season with a full-day outdoor event from 11AM to 5PM. The festival includes live performances, cultural programming, a marketplace, food vendors, and open park space for walking or picnicking. Held in one of the largest cherry blossom collections in the U.S., it draws a steady crowd throughout the day.
