DESCRIPTION:Liberty State Park is known to many as a local treasure. Volunteer to maintain this beautiful park while enjoying wonderful views of the harbor\, Lady Liberty\, and Ellis Island. Volunteers are needed to support various gardening projects including weeding\, mulching\, clean-up\, removing invasive botanical species and planting. \nThis is a light rain or shine event- heavy rain or snow will result in a cancelled project. We suggest you arrive by 8:45 am\, so volunteering can start on time.\n \nNEED-TO-KNOW \n\n\nWe will email a map of where to meet the day before the project. Please call us if you did not receive the email on Friday before 3 pm. \n\n\n​Please be sure to wear closed-toed shoes/boots\, hats\, work gloves if possible\, insect repellent\, sunscreen\, and long pants to protect yourself while gardening \n\n\nBring water and snacks \n\n\nPlease read the description carefully and understand all volunteers must have the capacity to complete the tasks noted in the description above. Also understand that you can work according to your skills\, abilities\, age\, etc. and pace yourself where you can. Remember to have fun! \n\n\nAll projects have non-negotiable age restrictions that are noted on the upper right side of each project description. Children under 18 must have a parent or guardian on site at all times. This project provides a meaningful volunteer experience in a positive\, safe environment that is perfect for individuals\, families\, and groups of almost any size. \nVolunteer today and make a measurable difference in the lives of many by\, helping sort and organize the food pantry\, and package the items for distribution to needy families. On Friday\, volunteers do prep work for Saturday which is distribution day. \nVolunteer tasks may include\, but are not limited to the following:\n\n\nSetting up for distribution. This will involve setting up tables\, preparing food stations and more. \n\n\nBagging perishables for community members. Fresh produce and canned goods are distributed to the members of the community. \n\n\nCleaning up the food stations and putting a way tables and/or tents. This opportunity my require some lifting. \n\n\nNeed-To-Know: \n\n\nPlease note: The timing of this opportunity has been determined by Jersey Cares and Triangle Park Community Center based on the delivery window provided by the food supplier. There is potential the delivery may arrive before or after the opportunity begins resulting in a delayed program start or a shortened volunteer experience.
