Welcome to The Maker Social! A relaxed, daytime creative gathering designed for everyone! Makers, artists, or anyone craving a cozy, hands-on experience.

This is not a traditional class workshop. The Maker Social is a creative social where you’ll stitch, paint, sip, snack, and connect with others while learning the fundamentals of leather painting and design.

Guests will choose between creating a hand-stitched leather journal or a set of leather coasters, then customize their piece using professional leather paints and finishes.

Whether you come solo, with a friend, or as a group, you’ll leave with a finished piece and a full creative reset.

What You’ll Learn

This 3-hour experience blends relaxed social time with guided instruction, including:

• How to prepare leather for painting
• Surface cleaning and prepping
• Sketching & planning your artwork
• Transferring designs onto leather

No prior experience is needed.

12:30 – 1:00 PM | Arrival + Social Warm-Up
Grab coffee, snacks, choose your project, mingle, and get settled.

1:00 – 1:45 PM | Leather Fundamentals + Stitching
Learn leather basics, prep techniques, and journal stitching (for journal guests).

1:45 – 3:00 PM | Design + Painting
Sketch, transfer, paint, layer, and personalize your piece.

3:00 – 3:30 PM | Finishing, Sealing
Seal your work, learn care tips, and share your final piece if you’d like

Debbie Mangual-Condi is a Jersey City–based artist with nearly 20 years of experience working across multiple mediums. Her work spans hand-painted leather and denim, tattooing, large-scale murals, and permanent makeup. Known for blending fine art with wearable design, she creates pieces that are both expressive and functional.
