We go beyond hosting events; we create spaces where neighbors meet, friendships form, and community grows right here in Jersey City.
Since launching Jersey City Connects, we’ve brought together thousands of people through hundreds of events, creating opportunities for real relationships to form. From casual social meetups to meaningful volunteer initiatives, everything we do centers on strengthening our neighborhood and making Jersey City feel like home.
We host a wide range of events to meet people where they are. From speed dating night to a board game meetup, a hike, or a creative workshop, there’s something for everyone.
Simply choose an event, sign up, and show up; we take care of the rest.
At our core, Jersey City Connects is guided by three principles: community, inclusivity and impact.
Meet Alyssa Domenech – the Founder of Jersey City Connects
When Alyssa moved to Jersey City in 2020, she faced the challenge many newcomers know well: building a social circle in a brand-new city. As she met more people, one thing became clear; she wasn’t alone in feeling disconnected.
What started as a personal search for community quickly became a mission.
Alyssa launched Jersey City Connects to bring people together through social meetups, networking events, and volunteer programming. She envisioned a space where newcomers and longtime residents could connect, support one another, and feel truly rooted in the city.
And it worked.
By July 2023, after organizing hundreds of events and witnessing the impact firsthand, Alyssa took a leap of faith; leaving her corporate career to run Jersey City Connects full time.
Jersey City Connects actively collaborates with local nonprofits including JCleans and Triangle Park Community Center, hosting initiatives such as community cleanups and youth board game nights.
While events are the foundation of what we do, our goal has always been bigger: to build a lasting sense of belonging across Jersey City.
To date, Alyssa has organized hundreds of events, connected thousands of people, and supported countless local businesses throughout the city.
In March 2024, Alyssa was honored as a Women of Action award recipient by Mayor Steven Fulop.
She remains deeply grateful to the community members, business owners, and partners who continue to support Jersey City Connects and help it grow.
Alyssa’s commitment to community is deeply personal. Her work is inspired by the legacy of her father, whose kindness, optimism, and belief in people continue to guide everything she does.
